The Community Center is the heart of the Village. It is where training, assessments and consultations take place. Equally important it's where resident veterans gather and bond as a brotherhood and community. It has designated rooms and areas for each specific activity and service provided.
GATHERING PLACE
This spacious room features couches, tables, TVs and bookcases stocked with books and games. It aims to offer veterans a social and comfortable environment for training, exorcise, movie nights, studying, group sessions and more. A planned soundproof operable wall will be able to divide the room in half when multiple functions are taking place.
COMPUTER TRAINING ROOM
The computer training room has 6 computers, a scanner and a shredder. It is intended for training sessions, veteran selected classes, individual task completion that require the INTERNET or just for web browsing.
CASE MANAGER'S OFFICE
The Case Manager works directly with each resident veteran to create personalized case plans, set goals and helps each veteran accomplish those goals.
KITCHEN
The kitchen area includes a large kitchen table, kitchen sinks, a refrigerator freezer combination, water and ice dispenser, a microwave oven, a toaster, counter space, cooking and eating utensils, dinner ware and a fully stocked pantry with low-cost snacks and meals. Local organizations deliver meals regularly. Weekly group meals for veterans are held here.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S OFFICE
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Village. He is the face of Golden Isles Veterans Village to the public. He reports directly to the President of the Board of Directors.
COFFEE MAKER AND WATER STATION
A coffee maker and filtered water dispenser is conveniently located in the hallway halfway between the TV room and the kitchen. It is common to see veterans, staff and community leaders at the community center each morning enjoying a cup of coffee and pastries.
